Best Books Ever

Hello everyone! I figured that today I'd give you some insight on what books I adore. And this list will probably change as I read more books and I might change my mind about some of these books. But right now they are my favorites. And these aren't in any specific order, from my favorite-favorites to my least favorite favorites.  Now, keep in mind I love love love love all of these books very very much.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken
Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth
Legend trilogy by Marie Lu
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

So, that is my list. Wow, it's a lot shorter than I thought. Oh, well.
Love, Amber

Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy (Legend, #2)
June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.

My Review;
My first reaction upon finishing this book: "I'm going to strangle Marie Lu!"  If you've read the book, you know what I mean. While reading this book I alternated between wanting to hug the author and murder her. This book was even better than Legend. I had high expectations after reading the absolutely fantastical Legend and this book exceeded them by a mile. I'm not going to say any more because I can't give anything away. But definitely a 5 (gazillion) star book.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Marie Lu literally had me uncontrollably laughing within the first 10 pages. Does this sound familiar to anyone?: "Aw, come on sweetheart, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. I've got my arm around the prettiest escort on the block, how could I not be lusting over you? Don't I look like I'm lusting? This is me, lusting!" Best. Quote. EVER! And then came the "bathroom scene". Oh, Marie Lu, again, you've perfectly captured the awkwardness of teen romance while entwining it with kick-butt situations. If I ever meet you I'm going to bow to your feet.
Now, I'm going to skip right to the end. The part you've all been waiting for. Day. Is. Dying. My 1st reaction: What? No, no, no, no. There is no way I read that right. *rereads last few paragraphs* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DAY IS DYING! MY LIFE IS OVER! I WILL NEVER FEEL HAPPINESS AGAIN! And then, he goes to June. And I'm expecting him to tell her and then she would be like, oh, it's okay, I'm so high up I can get you something to heal you. But no. Marie Lu enjoys crushing my dreams. Because instead of telling her he just tells her to accept the position as Anden's "right hand man"(don't remember the actual term for it) and then breaks up with her. *face palm* God Day. Why?
So, that's pretty much all I have to say. Amazing, amazing, amazing book. Read it.

Legend

Intro

Hey everyone Snick here giving you books all the time. This review is about my on the top starter of my favorite book trilogy, Legend. It and Divergent is tied. I really can't decide. I liked to here what you guys think.

Book Talk

OK, I am so in love with this book. It is on the top of my list. My English teacher said her son was reading it and loved it. So I bought it at Barnes and Noble that night at my little brothers school (My old school) book night. Mac was with me and said she had to read the book for BOB. She wasn't looking forward to it though. I read it told her she had to read it. BOOM! She loved it. We are so fan-girls.
Now the book talk. The first words I read were "My mother thinks I'm dead". Not was what I am expecting. Never judge a book by it's cover though or in this case beginning. War is raging hope is dying. The only hope left is the boy who walks in the light. Day. Fighting against the republic, sorta, is there most wanted criminal having no idea what he looks like he is very hard to catch. June is the republic little prodigy. There best solder at the age of only fifteen. Day kills her brother. Is it murder? Did he kill him. Seeking revenge the little prodigy goes under cover to catch Day. Day who is hurt and running is not aware of how is life is going to change. Meeting a girl on the street. Saving her life. Falling in love. Day and June find the secrets that will change this war for ever. Do they really want to see the republic collapse though, or do they want to see it change? Find out in one of my top favorites. Legend.

 Characters

So Day has to be my favorite. He is smart, sweet, strong, brave, cute, and I'm not sure if I would consider him a bad boy. The Boy Who Walks in the light. Not to mention funny too. June I like to. She is brave, daring, sweet, strong and, dependable. The Girl Who Shattered The Shinning Glass. The republics little prodigy. I hate Tess. Period. Just had to say that.

My Thoughts

Ok so I have already told my you I love this book but I will say it again. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!! Sorry I just love it.  If you read it I hope you fall in love with it too. OK so here is my news. I have recently been reading Divergent I have fallen I love with four. That is my problem. Mac claimed four already. So Yea, but when Champion comes out she is going to want Day so I will keep him. I also have lots of good quotes for this book. I take some of my favorite lines and quote them with this app on my IPad. It is so cool.

Closing

That is it for now. I love this book. ****Gets hit by a random chair**** Owww! I will say it once and I will say it again. Hope you plan to read this awesome book by Marie Lu.

                                                                                                           Grace

Gone by Michael Grant

In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.

Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day.

It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

My Review
I really didn't like this book. It was really boring for most of the time. There were maybe 3 parts in this entire 600 page book that really had my attention. That's kinda sad. I had to force myself to keep reading. But the most frustrating part is that I had a lot of questions by the end of the book but none of them were answered. And yes I get that its a series so he can't answer all my questions but not ONE of them were answered. That just really bugs me. A lot. So, this book is maybe 1 1/2 stars. I don't recommend it and I'm not gonna continue the series.

The Kane chronicles The Red Pyrimid

            Intro
Hey every one snick here sorry I have not posted in awhile. Been really busy with swim, art camp, and I was at the beach for 2 weeks with out a internet for one and with out the lap top for another. This is my book article about the Kane chronicles.
       Book Talk
When I think magic I think bunnies, hats, nerds, wizard, show, wand , and ever since I read these  books Kane, Egypt, and The Kane Chronicles. You start off with Sadie Kane waiting for her dad with her cat muffin and Carter Kane,Sadie's older brother, in a taxi going with his dad an archeologist to pick up his sister when they pass the London needle. The same place where their mom died. The kids don't know exactly what happened but after that their lives change forever. After getting picked up Sadie and Carter go to the museum where their dad was going for work. Were they find that their dad releases the Egyptian gods on to the earth from a magical place called the draut trying to bring back their mother. After being captured by Set ,the god of evil, Julius Kane is power less. With there help from their uncle Amos they make it to the Twenty-first Nome. Not something you put in your yard. This giant invisible mansion to normal humans is the place where Sadie and Carter learn about their family, train for battle, meet Khufu a Baboon butler, and live. Will Carter and Sadie ever see their dad again? Will the world end? Find out as you read about Carter and Sadie's adventure meeting new friends and learning new magic. The Kane Chronicles.
      Characters
When I think of the Kanes I think about Carter and Sadie. Two teens with magical powers from Egypt.Carter is a 14 year old boy who travels a lot with his dad, who is an archeologist, digging up artifacts from Egypt. Always being home-schooled so he has no idea how kids his age dress (No offense to home schooled kids) he always wears a button down shirt, khakis , and dress shoes. He holds the amulet and sprite of Horus, the falcon god.
           My thoughts
Sadie I really have come to like. She is a feisty 12 year old rebel or better know as the queen of magic. Always having her hair dyed different color streaks though it is a nice caramel color. She grew up in London with her grandparents with her cat Muffin. She usally wears a some worn out jeans, a leater jacket, and combat boots. She holds the amulet of Isis, the god of mother hood and love.
My favorite god has to be Neith  the huntress god. She is sly and  a little bit crazy. Anouther part I love about this book is the Chapter names. They are so funny. Sadie has to be my favorite character. I love her rebel personality.
         Closing
That's it for now if you like this book you should read it all. I will make book talks form them. I don't really go in any order. So yea. Please comment. I love to hear from the eaters and other fellow book lions.

The Mortal Instruments- City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

My Review:
Everyone loves this book. Everyone. So, I went into it with fairly high expectations. I expected it to be at least 4 stars. But I was not expecting what it was.  I was literally sucked in within the first 2 chapters.  I tore through this book. And then I finished it and I just sat there for like 15 minutes thinking "Holy crap, what did I just read?!" I rated it 5 stars on goodreads but really, it deserves an infinite amount of them. This was just...wow.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

My Review:
This is the companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss which I loved.  So, going into this book I had really high expectations.  And this book exceeded them.  It was different from Anna and the French Kiss, because the characters were not at all the same but that was good.  I don't think that it was quite as good as Anna and the French Kiss, but I can't really explain why.  It was still AMAZING but it was i don't know.  I think that Lola wasn't as in touch with4herself as Anna was, if that makes any sense. But is was still a fantastic book and I totally give it 5 stars.
Another thought: I LOVED Cricket. He is like my dream guy. Totally. I liked him better than St. Clair. Not a lot but just a teensy bit better.  And speaking of St. Clair, I was totally in love with the fact that him and Anna were in this book.  I thought that was a wonderful touch.
So, yes, beautiful book. Go read it.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Amber

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

My Review:
I thought this book was absolutely adorable.  I was skeptical going into it because I don't normally like contemporary novels and I definitely try to stay away from romance (because sometimes it gets kinda age inappropriate and then I'm just like...awkward.) But this book exceeded expectations by a mile.  It was so sweet and I just loved it so so so much.  I also loved that it was set in Paris.  The food! My mouth was watering every time someone ate something.  Stephanie really knows her stuff.  Everything made me feel like I was there and I could picture everything easily in my mind.  I liked that she really described famous Parisian landmarks in detail, because I mean, it's like, come on these things are real don't leave them up to my imagination. So I totally recommend this book and give it 5 stars.

Grace-Just a thought

Marie Lu you are awesome! I new there were a lot of fan art but I didn't know that you made some. The so cool. On my second hand, I think it is a really good idea that authors post art of their charterers that they made so it can help us picture them. Thank you so much for that it is awesome. Still on the topic of fan art I really love making it. I also love the quotes from the book. I know one of Mac's favorites is " Did you set fire to ten F-472 fighter jets parked at Burbank air force right before they were heading out to war front? I'm kinda proud of that one." I like it to but it is not my favorite. I really like "Forever kid until your sick and tiered of seeing me." Any way that was my post. Marie Lu you rock. Please fell free to comment. I love to hear the eaters (You people. Get we are cookies. Ha Ha.)  favorite quote from the book.  If you have not read the book PLEASE do us a favor and read it.

The Lucky Ones by Anna Godberson- Amber

So today I'm going to be reviewing The Lucky Ones by Anna Godberson, the third book in the Bright Young Things trilogy.
**Summary:
In 1929, the Bright Young Things escape Manhattan's heat for the lush lawns and sparkling bays of White Cove, looking for leisure, love, and luck.

New York City's latest It Girl, Cordelia Grey, is flying high with celebrity pilot Max Darby. But Max is a private person with a reputation to uphold—and a secret to hide. A public romance with a bootlegger's daughter could cost him more than just his good name. . . .

Aspiring triple threat Letty Larkspur has finally gotten her big break, but will her talent—and special bond with the married silver-screen star Valentine O'Dell—make her a target in the cutthroat world of Hollywood? Perhaps the ingenue knows how to play the leading lady after all.

Newly married to her longtime sweetheart, socialite Astrid Donal finds herself spending more time with one of her husband's henchmen than with him. With so many secrets between man and wife, is the honeymoon already coming to an end?

As summer reaches its hottest peak, these sun-kissed girls will find out if their luck can last . . . or if dark surprises are on the horizon.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Luxe comes the riveting conclusion to the one summer these Bright Young Things will never forget.

My Review:
I thought this was an excellent ending to an excellent trilogy.  I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with the characters even more.  Anna Godberson really out did herself on this novel.  As someone who normally doesn't like historical fiction, it was quite a surprise to me how much I loved this book.  It was definitely my favorite book in the trilogy and I give it  4 out of 5 stars.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Okay do first of all, I just want to say how much I hated and loved Anna Godberson at the end of this book.  I mean, honestly, she killed Cordelia and Max.  I loved them so much, they were my favorite characters in the story by a long shot.  But I loved that they were able to die together and Max let Cordelia fly with him in the race so they could try to fly all the way across the Atlantic.  I really thought they were gonna make it and then they didn't and I was so so so so so so so sad.
Next, Astrid and Victor.  I so didn't see that coming.  I felt so bad for Astrid when Charlie was yelling at her because he thought that she had turned him into the FBI for killing that man when it was Victor all along.  I thought it was so sweet when Victor came to Astrid's window and she ran away with him.  I never liked Astrid and Charlie as a couple.  In fact, I never liked Charlie at all.   I always saw him as a oversized bully.
And Letty. Oh, Letty.  I'll admit, I believed Valentine too.  I really thought he was falling for her.  And then Sophia told her that he was just playing games with her and she was just crushed.  But then she hopped on a train with Grady for LA and became a star.  I felt so happy for her and I was so glad that her and Grady ended up together in the end.  I always hoped they would, and they make such a perfect couple.
The last thing I want to comment on is the last chapter/epilogue thing.  I thought it was really interesting that it was told from Billie's pov because she's a character we don't really get to know.  And the part where she sees John and she's like, "Who are you?".  And he's like, "Do you know Cordelia Grey?", and she says, "Yes. How do you?", and he's like, "She's my wife." and he shows Billie his wedding ring and I was just like   Awwwww.

Thanks for reading.  I plan to have my bookshelf tour up either tonight or Sunday.  I can't post before Sunday because I'll be on vacation for the 4th and I won't have wifi.
Love,
Amber

Intro-Grace

Hi Grace here. I really love reading. I am a wonderful English student, and I also love to read. I apologize for any spelling errors. Mac will probably fix them though.  I suck at it. My fave book trilogy has to be Legend by Marie Lu. I LOVE it. Not as much as my friend Amber though. We go by the term book lions because book worm is an insult. Look it up on Google. Hope you all love books as much as we do.
